1.  What is Speculative Fiction?

Speculative fiction is a catch all term including any sort of literature that covers themes and events that do not happen in the real world.  This includes fantasy, science fiction, horror stories with fantasy and science fiction elements and many others.

2.  If I do some work for Separate Worlds and get a free anthology, but I already have a subscription, what happens?

The free anthology is not counted toward your subscription number.  For example, if you purchase a one year (twelve issue) subscription in January, and then have stories published in the July and October anthologies, your subscription would not run out until the following March.

3.  How many stories can I expect in an anthology?

Currently we are averaging 10 - 20 new works every antholgy.

4.  Do you have to be an established, professional author to get published in Separate Worlds?

Not at all.  We accept submissions for consideration from all authors, established or not.  In fact, Separate Worlds can be a great first publication credit.

5.  Do you only publish stories?

No, we publish all speculative fiction works.  Stories, poems, song lyrics and artwork are all welcome.

6.  How do I submit work to Separate Worlds?

For text works, send them in .doc, .rtf. or .txt format to authors@separateworlds.com.

For artwork, send them in .jpg format to artists@separateworlds.com.

7.  If I buy a subscription, do I have to start it on the current issue?

     No, you can begin your subscription on any issue you like.  Just fill in the First Issue with the issue you want, by date, mm/yy format.  So if you wanted to start your subscription with the February 2010

    issue, just enter 02/10 there.  Subscription issues are consecutive, so your subsciption would then give you every issue that followed the February 2010 issue up to the current one, and then continue with

    new issues from that point.  You could purchase a 'subscription' that was entirely back issues if you so desired.
